The Ministry of Energy and Industry played a pivotal role on the map of energy and industry locally and globally through looking ahead and innovation to map out a better and prosperous future; and to bring about the real change required to achieve sustainable development and ensure energy reaches all countries, societies and individuals. The Ministry seeks to achieve indicators of the national, competitive and strategic agenda to reach excellence and achieve prosperity of the society, and works on proposing and developing policies, legislations and strategies in coordination with the concerned authorities to achieve security, sustainability and competitiveness of the energy, industry, water and mining sectors, and reduce the greenhouse gas emissions rates. It also works on setting plans and strategies, and following up their implementation and preparing specialized and innovative studies and researches according to the international best practices.
The Ministry, in cooperation with strategic partners, launched the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which is based on 3 main tracks: Adding renewable energy plants annually and reducing the cost in energy production while increasing the number of projects, in addition to reducing the cost of water desalination through the sustainability of production plants. The UAE Water Security Strategy 2036 was launched, which aims to ensure the sustainability and continuity of access to water during natural and extreme emergency conditions, in line with the country's legislations and WHO specifications, and contributes to the richness and prosperity of society and the sustainability of the national economy. Recently, the UAE government launched the UAE Advanced Industries Policy, which was prepared by the Ministry’s working team in cooperation with members of the Coordinating Council for Industry and other relevant authorities, to boost industries that keep pace with the developments of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its applications in all the manufacturing sectors in the country; and raise the level of industrialization in the country. The policy aims to motivate the business sector to adopt and develop the future industrial sectors and modern technologies, export development, enhancing the role and ability of the Emirati industry to compete in global markets, shifting towards a clean and sustainable industry, attracting talent and creating job opportunities for the citizens.
