The
announcement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of
the United Arab Emirates, may God protect him, that
2023 will be the year of sustainability under the slogan "Today for
Tomorrow", represents his great concern for environmental work and
sustainable development, and the efforts of the United Arab Emirates to
accelerate steps towards achieving environmental neutrality and ensuring the
sustainability of natural resources for future generations. The issue of
addressing the phenomenon of climate change is a priority in the agenda of the
wise leadership, therefore, we aim to launch initiatives, strategies and
legislation, in addition to local, regional and international cooperation, to
follow the leadership's orientations aimed at enhancing the country's efforts to address the issue of climate change and
environmental sustainability.
The
United Arab Emirates follows a clear approach for planning for the future of
energy and addressing climate change. In 2017, we studied our options regarding
energy sources and how to use them to make our cities among the most livable in
the world, through the launch of the National Energy Strategy 2050. Clean and
renewable energy is a basic foundation of sustainability, making it a strategic
priority for the country that leads the way in adopting the latest innovations
driving the journey to confront the effects of climate change and reduce
greenhouse gas emissions.
