The Energy, Industry And Infrastructure Committee Of The Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council Reviews Initiatives, Projects And Plans

The Energy, Industry and Infrastructure Committee of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council held in Riyadh its third quarterly meeting in 2022. During the meeting, issues related to stepping up joint cooperation between the two sisterly countries were reviewed, as well as following up the progress made in implementing strategic initiatives and projects and future work plans related to those sectors, in a way that fulfils the aspirations of the leaderships and peoples of the two countries.

Headed by HE Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs and Chairman of the Committee from the Emirati side, included a number of committee members in the federal and local government entities.

In his speech, Al Olama said: “I am pleased to meet you today in the regular meeting of the Integration Committee of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council. I welcome all the attendees representing the agencies of the two sisterly countries who are in charge of following up and putting the strategic initiatives into action. Let me first of all thank our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the generous hosting and great organization which always reflects the bonds of love and fraternity.  I would also like to convey to you the greetings of HE Suhail bin Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, wishing you success in all what serves the interests of our two countries and puts them in a better position.”

Al Olama stressed the UAE's keenness on having constructive and fruitful cooperation with KSA, aiming to step up and develop strategic cooperation and positive integration in the energy, industry and infrastructure sectors. In this way, he said, they can enhance their position as two powers that have great clout in these vital sectors which support national economies and sustainable development. He highlighted the role of these meetings and effective coordination at the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council under the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, God bless them, in shaping a common vision between the two countries and strengthening partnership to realize tangible results.

Eng. Sharif Al Olama then lauded the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council of the Executive Committee headed by HE Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan, Minister of State in the UAE, and HE Faisal bin Fadel Al Ibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning in KSA. He expressed his thanks to all those who sought to make the work of the technical committees successful.

Al Olama added: “Through our effective cooperation and our ambitious future work plans, we are able to push the energy, industry and infrastructure sectors forward towards a promising future that meets the aspirations of the wise leadership of the two countries and achieves sustainable development and the well-being of the two brotherly peoples.” He praised the long-standing historical relationship which unites the UAE to the great sisterly country, Saudi Arabia, an example to be followed not only at the regional level but also at the global level. The two countries, thanks to their joint relations, have taken advanced steps together to enhance the integration of the energy system and find innovative solutions for the optimal use of resources to support their full commitment of the Paris Agreement.”

On the sidelines of the meeting, HE Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, met with HE Dr. Nasser Al Dossari, Advisor to HH the Minister of Energy and General Supervisor of the Agency for International Relations, and HE Eng. Ahmed Al Zahrani, Assistant to HH the Minister of Energy for Development and Excellence. The meeting discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and joint cooperation in the energy, infrastructure and housing sectors.
