Ministry Of Energy And Infrastructure Honoured Winners Of Emirates Energy Award

His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, honoured winners of Emirates Energy Award for entities with outstanding achievements in the sustainable energy sector.

The honouring ceremony, held during the ministry’s participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition centre (ADNEC).

H.E Al Mazrouei, honoured Dubai Municipality, Dubai Water and Electricity Authority, Tabreed Company and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), with Emirates Energy Award as a recognition for the achievements in best practices in energy efficiency, receiving ISO 50001 and finding innovative solutions for energy efficiency and alternative energy.

H.E. Al Mazrouei, praised the efforts of the participants and the role of the award to encourage different entities in the UAE to implement global standards for the sustainability and efficiency of the energy sector as well as encourages to study and scientific research in the sector which is a major pillar for the national economy.

He pointed that the ministry achieved ISO 50001 in 2020 by implementing energy management standards in the ministry’s key buildings.

“There are enormous efforts in managing the demand on energy in the UAE, along with reducing the demand. It is the main target of the UAE energy strategy 2050. The ministry continues the work to achieve the country’s targets by launching the national water and energy demand management programme in cooperation with strategic partners in federal, local, and private sectors, that targets 40 per cent efficiency of the three most energy-consuming sectors in the UAE: transport, industry, and construction,” said Al Mazrouei.

“The ministry works with federal, local, and private sectors to achieve sustainable development and efficiency of energy by implementing ambitious initiatives and projects. Energy is the main pillar for sustainable development and environmental conservation by using natural resources. The transformation to renewable or clean energy is a strategic priority in the UAE.”

He affirmed that UAE is a leading country in developing renewable and clean energy by creating ways and modern methods to strengthen the efficiency of the energy sector, rationalize the consumption of natural resources, and find alternative solutions to traditional energy to support sustainable development.
