“Ministry Of Energy & Infrastructure" Supervises The Implementation Of A Set Of Arterial Roads

“The construction and completion project of the Emirates Road extension (phase II) is the construction of a major intersection and tunnel to accommodate traffic to and from the central and eastern areas of the State. The completion rate is 23% to date, and the project works will be completed by August 2023”, His Excellency Eng. Youssef Abdullah, Assistant Under-Secretary of Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure for Federal Infrastructure Projects Sector, said.

He added that the project includes an arched tunnel with five lanes in each direction, three of which serve the current period and two lanes for future expansion. The new Khorfakkan Road will be connected to the Emirates Road through a number of sliding and ring roads. The project also includes the transportation and protection of the existing services; and the intersection will contribute to raising the level of safety and providing free and seamless traffic movement after its completion.

“The project of developing and upgrading the efficiency of Federal Road (E88) Sharjah-Al Dhaid-Masafi (stage III - from intersection 7 to Al Dhaid entrance) has achieved a completion rate of 14%. The project is to develop Sharjah-Al Dhaid Road from bridge 7 to Al Dhaid entrance extending 29 km long, by adding a new lane in every direction so that the road would become three lanes in each direction with implementing maintenance works on the existing lanes. The project also includes the construction of a new ring intersection to serve the users of Nizwa - Maliha Road in the Emirate of Sharjah”, His Excellency said.

“The construction and completion project of the Emirates Road extension - phase II - (the road linking Emirates Street with Al Ittihad Street - phase I) reached 42% completion rate, and the project works will be completed in the last quarter of this year 2022. The project consists of a 2.8 km double-lane road linking in phase I Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Street with Emirates Road, and there will be another phase to link it with Al-Ittihad Street, so that the Road becomes a vertical axis on the federal roads E11, E311 and E611 connecting to the East-West direction and will serve the areas surrounding Sheikh Zayed Road and Emirates Street such as Emirates City, Uptown, Al Helio, Hamriyah District, Al Zubair and other areas in the Emirates of Sharjah and Amman”, He added.
