The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) signed an MoU with the Mission to Seafarers Charity to support seafarers and protect their rights according to international agreements.
The MoU was signed at DP World pavilion at Dubai Expo City in the presence of HRH Princess Anne, president of the Mission to Seafarers Charity, and Her Excellency Eng Hessa Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs at MoEI.
Her Excellency Eng Al Malek said: “Through the MoU, we will work with the Mission to Seafarers Charity in carrying out training programs and providing psychological and social support to seafarers. We will also work together to raise awareness of the important role seafarers play in the global economy and the importance of providing them with a safe, stimulating work environment.”
She added: “This MoU is a shinning example of an effective collaboration between the government and charities to help achieve the sustainable development goals and support workers in the maritime transport sector. Jointly, we aim to make a positive change in the life of seafarers, which will enhance the efficiency and productivity of the maritime sector and contribute to the growth of the global economy.”
