UAE Delegation Visits Pakistan to Learn about Best Maritime Practices

A UAE delegation visited Pakistan to learn about best practices and technologies in maritime transport and security. The visit builds on the longstanding strategic ties between the two nations.

Headed by Her Excellency Eng Hessa Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the National Guard Command.

While in Karachi, they toured the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, where they explored high-tech systems and the measures they take to maintain the security of the marine environment.

Moreover, members of the delegation learned about key future projects and applicable cutting-edge systems, including advanced marine monitoring and ship tracking systems that ensure data accuracy and ships’ safety. They also received a briefing on the process to connect local and international stakeholders to improve coordination among various sectors.

Her Excellency Eng A Malek commended the noticeable advancement in Pakistan’s marine security and highlighted that the visit was aimed at learning best practices and tech solutions that can improve the UAE’s maritime sector and ensure its preparedness in the face of potential challenges.

She said: “Reviewing successful experiences enhances the UAE’s ability to implement world-class practices, which in turn reinforces its position and competitiveness as an international maritime transport and logistics hub. Our collaboration with Pakistani counterparts was quite productive as we learned a lot from their experiences in various aspects that enhance the efficiency of maritime operations and ensure the safety and security of the UAE’s waters.”
