The Ministry of Energy and Industry launches the Annual Statistical Report 2017

The Ministry of Energy and Industry has released the new edition of the Annual Statistical Energy and Water Report 2017, which provides accurate and documented data for the energy and water sector in UAE, and it is a reference for decision makers and stakeholders.

HE Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry, said that the strategy of the Ministry of Energy and Industry for the years 2017-2021 aims at achieving the security and sustainability of energy, water and mining sectors in accordance with UAE Energy Vision and Strategy 2050, and in cooperation with stakeholders and contributors to achieve the indicators of National Agenda 2021. H.E mentioned that the statistical data are important in developing, reviewing, and measuring the strategies and making sound decisions, saying also that the Ministry is keen to provide accurate and documented data for the sectors of energy, water, mining and industry to be a reference for strategies and decision makers, and make an effective contribution of these vital sectors in the sustainable economic development.

He said: "We are pleased to publish the annual report of energy and water statistics 2017, which includes data on the various energy sectors, including oil, gas, electricity, renewable energy and water sector in both Arabic and English languages, as well as the contribution of the petroleum sector in some economic variables such as GDP and the total exports of the country For the years 2011-2016

He added that the commitment of the Ministry of Energy and Industry to the vision of UAE leadership is reflected through its strategy and work to maintain the energy and water sector and sanitation in the country safe and sustainable.

For his part, Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, thanked all the national institutions working in the energy and water sector for their cooperation in the exchange of information, for it will enhance the competitiveness of the country in global indicators.

He said that the annual report prepared by the Ministry in cooperation with various local and federal authorities in UAE provides data on crude oil, natural gas, petroleum products, petrochemicals, total production of refineries in the country, and the number of workers in the petroleum sector. The report also provides data on the electricity produced in the country, of clean energy, maximum load, the number of subscribers and the electricity tariff in the UAE.

H.E mentioned that the report includes data on the production capacity of the desalination plants in the country, the quantity of water consumed, the number of subscribers in the country, the number of dams, the distribution in the country and the storage capacity of the dams. The report uses graphs to help track the general trend of the most important indicators of the mentioned data.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Energy and Industry has published an electronic version of the annual report of energy and water statistics 2016 on its website www.moei.gov.ae in the open data section, and on its accounts in social networking sites in order to disseminate knowledge, data and statistics among all members of the community.
