The 11th edition of the 2018 Mining Conference and Exhibition kicked off yesterday at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center

The two-day event, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Industry, aims to highlight the challenges facing mining sectors and the potential investment opportunities in this sector, and address the latest technologies and innovations in addition to a number of other topics.
The exhibition, which is the largest of its kind in the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia, is an opportunity to meet with professionals, experts and companies working in the mining sector as well as a number of local and regional government agencies.
Senior government officials, Ministers, Undersecretaries, Heads of institutions, experts and specialists in the mineral wealth and related industries, will attend the event.
HE Ahmed Mohammed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for Petroleum, Gas and Mineral Resources at the Ministry of Energy and Industry, has addressed in his speech the challenges facing this sector as well as the potential opportunities for investment in the Ministry of Energy and Industry. He called for the exploitation of technological progress to develop this sector and the establishment of specialized industries.
The participants discussed a number of potential investment opportunities and reviewed some of the experiences in this sector in some participating countries, which are aiming, at the overall, the exploitation of mineral wealth and reducing the potential environmental impacts.
The Ministry of Energy and Industry participates in the conference and the accompanying exhibition through a pavilion displaying the Ministry's smart services in addition to presenting the results of studies and surveys carried out by the Ministry, as well as put forward a working paper on the status of the technical qualifications for workers in this sector, and participate in the discussion sessions to debate a number of themes related to this sector.
This event is a good opportunity to exchange views, experiences and expertise on the best global performances and practices in the field of sustainable development in this promising sector in line with the vision and strategy of the Ministry of Energy and Industry 2017-2021.
