Suhail Al Mazrouei: The UAE initiative for climate neutrality paves the way towards building a vibrant and environmentally friendly economy
The UAE government, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, announced at the UAE pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai the strategic initiative of the UAE to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, which comes as a culmination of the UAE efforts aimed at contributing positively to the The issue of climate change, and work to transform the challenges in this sector into opportunities that guarantee a bright future for future generations.
In this regard, His Excellency Suhail bin Muhammad Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, stressed that the strategic initiative to achieve climate neutrality in the UAE by 2050 paves the way towards building a vibrant and environmentally friendly economy, and enabling the energy and infrastructure sectors to keep pace with future requirements.
His Excellency said that our journey towards achieving this goal began 15 years ago, and this included building the latest solar power plants and adopting low-cost and highly energy-efficient technologies, as our solar energy tariff is the lowest in the world, and we worked to increase the share of nuclear energy and hydroelectricity. In the country’s energy mix, our transportation sector has become more sustainable by adopting electrical and hydrogen technologies..and all of this creates endless opportunities.”
