HE Eng Sharif Al Olama speaking the significance of COP28 in driving collective action

On the sidelines of his participation at the World Hydrogen Summit 2023 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, HE Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEi, said: “The UAE has huge aspirations when it comes to hydrogen. We believe we can produce hydrogen at large-scale to address our domestic demand and to export it to countries, such as Germany and others in Europe. By the end of this year, the UAE will hold COP28. It is going to be a COP unlike any other, a COP of inclusivity, and a COP of action. The achievements of the global community today with regard to emissions are far from where we need to be. There’s a lot of work that we need to do at COP28 to achieve the 1.5-degree goal by 2050.”
